What is the solar time of your birth?

Looking at a map, think of the sun as it travels through the sky, East to West. When your birth certificate time occured, had the sun already crossed over your actual place of birth, or had it yet to get there? When the sun actually crossed over your place of birth, that was the solar time of your birth.

Calculating Solar Time:

1) Write down the time of birth found on your birth certificate.

2) Look up the longitude of the place of birth and the longitude of that time zone.

3) Write down the difference between the birthplace longitude and the time zone longitude.

4) Multiply this difference by 4 to get the correction minutes.

5) If the birth longitude is greater than the time zone longitude: for West longitude, subtract the correction from your time of birth; for East Longitude, add the correction to your time of birth.

6) If the birth longitude is less than the time zone longitude: for West longitude, add the correction to your time of birth; for East longitude, subtract the correction from your time of birth.

7) If daylight savings was in effect at the time of your birth, subtract an additional 60 minutes.
This result is your solar time of birth.
